When did I get started in law enforcement?
I began my career with the Kings County Sheriff’s Office on November 27, 1989 as a Reserve Deputy Sheriff. On September 30, 1991, I began working as a full-time Deputy Sheriff and have enjoyed a great career ever since. During my tenure as a bailiff, I met my lovely wife who was a court reporter. In August of 1995, I became a K-9 handler and worked in that capacity for the next eight years. In 2003, I began my climb up the ranks within the Sheriff’s Office as a Senior Deputy Sheriff. I was promoted to Sergeant in 2005. In 2008, I was promoted to Commander and when Sheriff Robinson was elected in 2011, I was promoted to be one of his Second-in-Commands as an Assistant Sheriff. In April 2023, Sheriff Robinson restructured his upper echelon of managers and appointed me as his Undersheriff.
My primary role as Undersheriff is to support the Office of Sheriff David Robinson which includes: Operations Division, Patrol, Administration, Backgrounds, Detectives, Criminal Task Forces, Coroner’s Office, Civil Division, Records Division, Animal Services, Court Services, Communications, Air Support Unit, SWAT (Special Weapons and Tactics Team), K-9 Unit, Mounted Enforcement Unit, Water Rescue Unit, Jail, Classifications, Booking, Housing, Programs, Food Service, Medical/Mental Health, Transportation, Jail K-9, SERT (Special Emergency Response Team), and Training.
I have had the privilege to work out of all three of the Sheriff Office Substations: Avenal, Kettleman City, and Corcoran. When assigned to the Headquarters-beat area, I spent the majority of my time serving our Beat 2 and 4 areas, otherwise known as the District 5 area for the Kings County Board of Supervisors.
